A Local Champion

Wimbledon needs an MP that understands and is trusted by our community. But being local isn’t enough. We need a someone with a record of delivering after they’ve won. I’m that candidate.

After growing up in poverty across SW19, and choosing to raise my family here, I understand the realities of calling Wimbledon home. I love Wimbledon, but I also know it can and should be a better place for us all to live in.

Trusted to Deliver

I’m Deputy Leader of Merton Council and have a record of delivering for residents, and fighting for what we need. I ensured that children didn’t go hungry during holidays, I created school places for children with special needs, and I led our Children’s Services to be awarded an Outstanding judgement by Ofsted.

In recent months, I’ve awarded millions of pounds to frontline charities and community projects, have built relationships with local businesses, and delivered plans to invest in our high streets.

As an MP I will deliver the change that Wimbledon needs.

A Proven Winner

If Labour is to form the government we need, we must win in Wimbledon like we did in 1997. I’m a winning campaigner. I have twice beaten Tories and Lib Dems in marginal wards; succeeding where others have failed.

I gave up my job in the charity sector to concentrate on my duties as a councillor and campaigner. I’m out speaking to voters every week, and serving the community every day.

My Priorities

I have a vision for our area, a vision that works for everyone:

  • For residents worrying about growing waiting lists at hospitals

  • For hard-pressed families struggling in over-priced and over-crowded housing

  • For small business owners, anxious about the economic downturn

I promise to be a voice in the national debates, to fight for the things that really matter to Wimbledon residents.
